Hydrocarbons are one of the major causes of pollution. They are non-biodegradable compounds and are the secondary pollutants. The hydrocarbons are produced either due to incomplete combustion of fuel or sometimes naturally. These gases are released due to the increase in the industrialisation near cities and urban areas.
Now, the Bhopal disaster or Bhopal gas tragedy is the disaster cause because of the leakage of gases on 2nd and 3rd December, 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plants in Bhopal. The highly toxic substance gets released in the air and harms the towns and area located near the plant. The chemical process takes place in a Bhopal plant that has methylamine that reacts with phosgene to produce MIC, after the leakage it reacts with 1-naphthol and forms carbaryl that is highly toxic. This causes a huge loss of human life and cattles due to this toxic gas released.

Note: Ammonia is a primary pollutant found in air produce from agricultural activities. These compounds when enter in the air as a gas they get combined with the pollutants like sulphates and nitrogen oxides that are used to produce aerosols and cause air pollution.
