Question
Biology Question on Cell: the unit of life
Lysosomes are formed by
A
Endoplasmic reticulum
B
Golgi bodies
C
Mitochondria
D
Both A and B
Answer
Golgi bodies
Explanation
Solution
membrane and contain hydrolytic enzymes. The precursors of hydrolytic enzymes are synthesised at the rough endoplasmic reticulum and transferred to the Golgi complex where the precursors are changed to enzymes. The enzymes are then packed in larger vesicles which are pinched off from the maturing face of Golgi complex. Golgian vesicles are joined by endosomes to produce lysosome.
