The sols which can be directly prepared by mixing substances in an effective dispersion medium. The interaction between the dispersed phase and dispersed medium are very strong. lyophilic is liquid loving.
The sols which there is no interaction between dispersed phase and dispersed medium. Lyophobic basically means liquid hating.
Now the stability of the lyophilic sols because it contains charge in it and also has solvation of colloidal particles. Solvation of colloidal particles means colloidal particles are covered by sheaths of liquid which are dispersed. so, due to these two factors the lyophilic sols become more stable than lyophobic sols which contain only charge.

Lyophobic sols get coagulated when a small amount of an electrolyte is added. so, in that case the lyophilic sols are added to it. Lyophilic sols are also called as protective colloids because when the lyophilic sols are added to the lyophobic, the particles form a layer around the lyophobic particle and thus protect it from the electrolyte.

Note:
Particles of lyophilic sols are not seen under an ultramicroscope whereas in case of lyophobic sols it can be easily detectable. The charge on the lyophilic sols depends upon the pH level of the medium and in case of lyophobic sol all have the same charge in it. Also, the lyophilic sols show high colligative property as compared to lyophobic sols.
