Two advantages of chemical fertilisers:
1.These commercially prepared fertilisers have a proper blending of some essential nutrients which are needed for plant growth and thereby increasing crop yield I.e. contain nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. These three nutrients as such are so important and they have them in the ratio N-P-K labelled fertilisers. Some trace elements are also present which are not necessarily listed on their formulations including iron, sulphur and sometimes copper.
2.They are mostly water-soluble thereby by dissolving in the water they as such are good providers of these nutrients to the plants. They have proper fractions fixed and blended properly with great reliability and predictability.
Two disadvantages of chemical fertilisers:
1.One of the biggest disadvantages of fertilisers being they are much more expensive than natural fertilisers or manure. Poor farmers cannot afford these fertilisers for their crops making it difficult to be available to all. Moreover, they cause respiratory problems and skin problems are mostly encountered.
2.The chemical fertilisers are to be added in a proper fraction to the crop plants not much and not less for the growth of plants as adding more amount can cause the death of the crops. Also long term and increase in the use of fertilisers can affect fertility and pH of the soil. By adding less or inappropriate amounts they can't provide a good amount of nutrients thereby these factors not increasing yield.
