When the enzymes hold food particles together, the chemical bond of the enzyme will break. And this will allow the food to pass through the digestive tract by it down into smaller particles.

As we know , digestion is an example of a decomposition reaction. In the digestion process, the digestion of food classifies under oxidation reaction. And the food molecules will react with the oxygen which is present in our body and there is a formation of water with carbon dioxide. There is a release of energy that will take place during this process.
During the decomposition process, two or more elements will break down and there is a formation of single molecules. In the digestion process, two or more molecules are converted into single molecules. That is, the proteins, carbohydrates, and starch are broken down into their single forms like amino acids, basic sugar, etc. And there is a generation of power during digestion. Hence, it is an exothermic reaction.
