If U = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}, A = {2, 4, 6, 8} and B = {2, 3, 5, 7}. Verify that
**(i) **(AB)=AB(A ∪ B)' = A ' ∩ B' **(ii) **(AB)=AB(A ∩ B)' = A' ∪ B

Answer

U = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}
A = {2, 4, 6, 8}, B = {2, 3, 5, 7}

(i) (AB)=A ∪ B)' = {2,3,4,5,6,7,8}' = {1,9}
AB=A' ∩ B' = {1,3,5,7,9} \cap (1,4,6,8,9) = {1,9}
(AB)=AB∴ (A ∪ B)' = A' ∩ B'


(ii) (AB)=(A ∩ B)' = {2}' = {1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9}
AB=A' ∪ B' = {1,3,5,7,9} \cup {1,4,6,8,9} = {1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9}
(AB)=AB∴ (A ∩ B)' = A' ∪ B'
