3.The cytoplasm of the muscle cells is known as the sarcoplasm and it consists of many muscle fibers, polysaccharide glycogen, and a red pigment known as myoglobin that is responsible for the storage of oxygen. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum of muscle cells is known as the sarcoplasmic reticulum which contains transverse tubules and cisternae and the cell membrane of a muscle cell is termed as sarcolemma which is composed of reticular fibers and the basal lamina.
