How are monocot and dicot flowers different?

Flowers that have two cotyledons are known as dicot or dicotyledonous flowers whereas flowers having only one cotyledon is known as monocot or monocotyledonous flower.

1)The number of petals is different in monocot and dicot flowers. The monocot flowers are trimerous, which means they have either 3 petals or the number of petals are multiple of three, example a monocot plant can have 12 petals as it is a multiple of three. Similarly, a dicot flower is tetramerous or pentamerous which means it can have up to 4-5 petals or the number of petals is multiple of 4-5. The other flower parts also show similar features as petals.
2)The arrangement of veins in the leaves that is also known as venation is different for monocot and dicot flowers. A monocot flower will have leaves that will mostly show parallel venation and a dicot plant show reticulate venation in leaves.

3)The calyx and corolla of the dicot flower are distinct whereas in the monocot flower they are not distinct.

Note: Not only flowers but roots and other plant parts also show differences in a monocot and a dicot plant.
