We all know that the atom is the smallest component of an element which retains all of the chemical properties of the element. For example we can consider that one hydrogen atom has all of the properties of elements of hydrogen, that is it exists as gas at room temperature, meanwhile it bonds with oxygen to create water. Hydrogen atoms can't be broken down into smaller molecules while still retaining properties of hydrogen. If a hydrogen atom is broken down into subatomic particles it would no longer exist with having the properties of hydrogen.
At the most basic level all organisms tend to be made of a number of combinations of elements. They contain atoms that would combine together to form molecules. In multicellular organisms that are animals, here molecules can have interaction to form cells that combine to form tissue at extreme ordinates, which ends up to development of organs. These combinations continue until the entire multi cellular organism is formed.
All atoms contain protons, electrons, and neutrons. The only exception is hydrogen, which is made of one proton and one electron. A proton is positive charge particles that are residing in the nucleus of an atom and have mass of one and charge of a positive one. An electron is a negative charge particle which travels in the free space around the nucleus. In other words we can say that it resides outside of the nucleus. It has a negligible amount mass and has a charge that is negative.

Note: Remember Protons, neutrons, and electrons are very small, and most of the volume of an atom greater than 99 percent is actually empty space.
