Give the biological technical term for complete stoppage of menstrual cycle in females.

Explanation

Solution

Complete stoppage of the menstrual cycle or reproductive period of a woman leads to the end of her child-bearing capacity resulting in certain biological changes which woman experiences for a time and they subsidize after a certain period.

Complete answer:
The menstrual cycle is the process of ovulation or egg production and menstruation in women, and a woman in her reproductive stage of life is referred to as menstrual age (from puberty). In women, eggs are released from their ovaries during the reproductive years. Female sex hormones i.e. estrogen and progesterone are relased from the ovaries and this hormonal secretion is the regulatory factor of menstruation and the release of egg or ovulation.
A decline in the reproductive hormones in a woman is marked in the aged between 45-55 years, and stoppage of this cycle is biologically termed as menopause. When a woman goes without menstruating for about twelve months at a stretch and cannot be pregnant naturally anymore this period is marked as menopause. In lower levels of several hormones such as FSH (follicle stimulating hormones), luteinizing hormone along with estrogen and progesterone, the female physiology goes through several biological changes. These changes are marked by the loss of active ovarian follicles. Ovarian follicles help in releasing an egg from the wall of the ovary, and these eggs make the way for fertility and menstruation. In absence of these, menstruation does not occur and it leads to menopause. As a part of aging, menopause occurs in women after a certain age.
So, as we have discussed the biological term for menstrual stoppage is “Menopause”.

Note: There are several symptoms of menopause including irregular sleeping time, irregular and mood swings, soreness in breasts, fatigue, etc. These are caused by hormonal changes due to the stoppage of the menstrual cycle which occurs in the body.
