Question
Biology Question on Cell: the unit of life
Genes present in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells are found in
mitochondria and inherited via egg cytoplasm
lysosomes and peroxisomes
golgi bodies and smooth endoplasmic reticulum
plastids and inherited via male gamete
mitochondria and inherited via egg cytoplasm
Solution
The cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells contains organelles such as mitochondria, chloroplasts, Golgi bodies, lysosomes, peroxisomes etc. Out of these mitochondria and chloroplasts contain DNA. Genes are found on the chromosomes and chromosomes are made up of DNA and associated proteins. Thus mitochondria and chloroplasts also contain genes. During fertilization male gametes do not have sufficient amount of cytoplasm, hence, organelles, so most of the cytoplasm to the offsprings is contributed by egg itself. Hence, organelles that are present in egg's cytoplasm, also inhibit to the offsprings.
