Mathematics Question on Circles

From a circular card sheet of radius 14 cm, two circles of radius 3.5 cm and a rectangle of length 3 cm and breadth 1cm are removed. (as shown in the adjoining figure). Find the area of the remaining sheet. (Take π\pi = 227\frac{22}{ 7} )
circular card sheet

Answer

Area of bigger circle

= 227×14×14\frac{22}{7}\times 14\times 14

= 616  cm2616 \; cm^2

Area of 2 small circles = 2×πr22 × \pi r^2

= 2×227×3.5×3.52\times \frac{22}{7}\times 3.5\times 3.5

= 77  cm277 \; cm^2

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth
= 3×1=33 × 1 = 3 cm2cm^2
Remaining area of sheet
= 616773616 - 77 - 3
= 536536 cm2cm^2
