Question
Mathematics Question on Volume of a Sphere
Find the volume of a sphere whose surface area is 154 cm2.
Answer
Let the radius of the sphere be r.
Surface area of sphere = 4πr2 = 154 cm2
Volume of a sphere = 34πr3
⇒ Surface area of the sphere = 4πr2 = 154cm²
r2 = 4π154 cm2
r2 = (154 cm2) ÷ (4 × 722)
r = 449cm²
r = 27 cm
Now, radius of the sphere = 27 cm
So, volume of the sphere = 34πr3
= 34 × 722 × 27 cm × 27 cm × 27 cm
= 3539 cm3
Therefore, volume of the sphere is 3539 cm3.
