The animal food mainly consists of cereals, grains, and agricultural wastes. Animal foods are the ones which consist
of the things that animals give. These may be in the form of eggs that the hens lay to give birth to young ones. But at times, instead their eggs are taken away and are artificially incubated for the commercial purposes. The poultry is used as a good source of meat, chicken, mutton and others. Almost all types of aquatic which are non poisonous could be eaten by men. Some lactating animals such as cows, buffalo, and goats give milk.
All the above mentioned food items are a major source of protein. And they help in balancing the amino acids in the body. Proteins are the building blocks of the body. Therefore, it can be concluded that the animal is rich in protein.

Note: The lack of protein in the body could cause a disease named as protein energy malnutrition (PEM). These include marasmus and kwashiorkor. PEM is a common worldwide disease, which happens to both adults and children. Every year almost 6 million people die due to this malnutrition. PEM mostly occurs in children because of minimal protein uptake in them.
