There are many kinds of fibres but broadly they are classified into two categories , which are :

1. Natural fibres - They are the fibres which are obtained from both plants and animals , they are hair like raw material and can be obtained from various plants and animals .They can be further classified as plant , mineral and animal fibres . For example - cotton , cellulose .
2. Synthetic fibre - Synthetic fibres are made fibres which are synthesized in the laboratories from chemicals instead of directly deriving from living organisms . They are a long chain of small units joined together . For example - nylon , rayon .
   So we may say that it is true that fibres are classified as natural and synthetic fibres .
