Explain two phenomena that show movement of wind is caused due to unequal heating on earth?

Explanation

Solution

To know the two phenomena that show movement of wind is caused due to unequal heating on earth. Wind is the natural movement of air of any velocity in the atmosphere. The motion of the wind is usually in a horizontal direction. It is caused due to the difference in temperature between different regions of the earth. As warm air rises, air from cooler areas flows in to take the place of the rising air.

Complete step by step solution:
The earth’s surface consists of land and water. The land tends to heat faster than water among them. The land surrounding air will expand due to heating. This low pressure area will draw air from other regions, this causes wind. On the surface the movement of air of the earth is termed as wind. The weather patterns and the climate changes depend on the wind, when the earth revolves around the sun this occurs. Thus, the uneven heating causes the changes in the weather. In different amounts the air receives the heat on the earth. The two phenomena are as follows-
Sea Breeze: In coastal areas, the land warms up faster than the ocean surface. From the land, warm air rises up and creates an area of low pressure. Above the ocean surface now the air is cooler and pressure is higher than that on land. This pressure difference causes the air to move from ocean to sea. This is known as Sea Breeze.
Land breeze: During night, the land cools down faster than the ocean surface. From the ocean, warm air rises up and near the surface, an area of low pressure creates. From the land this is filled by cooler air. This gives rises to the land breeze.
Note: The density of the air can be affected by the temperature. As the air gets cooler then it becomes denser. Thus, the air tends to sink. This causes the weather of the earth. The two natural phenomena are – Land Breeze and Sea Breeze. Winds are generated due to uneven heating on the earth.
