Question: Explain the process of formation of complex proteins....
Explain the process of formation of complex proteins.
Solution
Complex protein is a Quaternary structure. It is mostly made up of polypeptide chains. It is made of various protein molecules, that are linked by non-covalent bonds. The basic units of proteins are Amino acids. They are linked together to form a primary structure. The second structure is made of beta-sheets.
Complete answer:
A complex protein or multiprotein complex, it is a group of two or more associated polypeptide chains. This polypeptide chain has a different function. It is distinct from a multienzyme complex, in which the catalytic domains are found to be in a single polypeptide chain. The complex protein is a form of Quaternary structure. In the protein complex, the proteins are linked by non-covalent bonds and also different protein complexes have many different degrees of stability over time. These complexes are a stone of many biological processes and they also together form various types of the molecular machinery that performs the huge array of biological functions.
Organic molecules are small in amino acids that consist of a chiral carbon with four substituents. Then the secondary structure of the protein, they do not exist just simple chains of polypeptides. These chains are usually folded due to the interaction between the amine and carboxyl group of peptide links. This structure refers to a shape in which a long polypeptide chain exists. The folding of the polypeptide chain because of hydrogen bonding between -CO group and -NH group of the peptide bond, therefore the segments of the protein chain may acquire their local field, these local folds are termed as secondary protein structures.
The tertiary structure of proteins represents the overall folding of polypeptide chains. It also gives rise to the two major molecular shapes called fibrous and globular. The main forces that stabilize both secondary and tertiary structures of proteins are hydrogen bonds and electrostatic force of attraction.
In the Quaternary structure between two or more polypeptide chains from the tertiary structure and its specific spatial interactions and arrangements.
Note: Some rules of protein structure are its types that determine the function of a protein. The protein structure is determined in the primary structure itself. The sequence of the amino acids within a protein is determined with the help of encoding sequence of nucleotides in the gene that is DNA. The parts of the protein chain have their own three-fold that can be attributed to some functions called domains.
