Outer part of the female reproductive organ is vulva (covering) which is located between the legs and includes the opening inside the body to vagina and other reproductive organs.

The muscle walls of vagina are covered with a lining of mucous membrane which helps in protection.
Hymen (a thin piece of skin like tissue) partly covers the vagina opening.
Vagina connects to the cervix with the uterus or womb.
Cervix consists of powerful and dense walls. It may expand during pregnancy to allow the child to pass.
