Solution

India is rich in animal and cattle diversity. Rearing of cattle is very important for the production of food and business. Rajasthan is the only state where the cattle population is more. The state rears variety of cattle breeds that produce a higher amount of milk than the normal cow breeds.

Complete step by step answer: Live stock is the main source of animal protein. Breeds of cows found in Rajasthan include the native cattle breeds namely; Rathi, Tarparker, Nagauri and Kankrej. 1.Nagauri: This species gives less milk. They are mainly used for ploughing, cultivation, drawing
water from wells and transportation. They are white, light grey in colour. This breed is also used for agricultural purposes.
2. Tharparkar: They are excellent breeds that produce milk. They are used for the dual purpose, draught and milk production. They are also called White Sindhi or Gray Sindhi.
3. Rathi: They are a milch variety of cows and are good at milk production, but males of this breed lack draught power. It is a draft breed and is well suited for hotter regions like Karnataka and
Rajasthan. They are a mixed breed of Sahiwal, lai Sindhi and Haryana breed.
4. Kankrej: This breed milk production ranges from 5-10 litres of milk. They have very good draught capacity. They can handle large loads. They are found in Barmer, Pali and Jalore districts.

Note: Live stock is one of the main sources for livelihood in Rajasthan as the majority of the land is desert. Most of the income is earned through dairy and animal husbandry. Rajasthan ranks second place in milk production throughout India.
