Question
Question: Explain how deforestation leads to reduced rainfall....
Explain how deforestation leads to reduced rainfall.
Solution
Deforestation is defined by the UN conference in the 1992 year and human activities or climatic variations arise due to the various factors semi-arid, land degradation in arid, and sub-humid in the forest areas. With increasing the population, urbanization, mining, industrialization, and urbanization are the main causes of deforestation.
Complete answer: The moisture given off by plants and trees via transpiration is lost due to deforestation which results in the reduction of rainfall. Urbanisation and shifting cultivation is the main cause of deforestation. In shifting cultivation, trees are burned down to start the cultivation process, which leads to the clearance of a huge forest area. In Africa, Asia and America deforestation is the main cause behind reduced rainfall. Another reason behind deforestation is commercial logging, which involves cutting down trees for sale as timber and pulp. In Africa, 75% of the land is cleared by the poor farmers for commercial logging. Mining and construction of dams are also the main cause of deforestation. Mining involves the extraction of minerals from the Earth, whereas, Dams are built to generate electricity and in both activities, the clearance of forests is inevitable.
Note: Loss of fertile land, the effect on climate, economic loss, loss of biodiversity, environmental changes, loss of medicinal plants and habitat loss are the major effects that arise due to deforestation. Reforestation, legislation, wildlife sanctuaries, commercial forest plantations and water management should be encouraged to control deforestation. If we do not put an end to deforestation, within the next 100 years, all of the earth’s forests will disappear.
