Question: Explain Hertz's experiment related to electromagnetic waves....
Explain Hertz's experiment related to electromagnetic waves.
Solution
In ordered to answer this question we must know about the electromagnetic waves concept. The frequency of electromagnetic waves naturally equals the frequency of oscillation of the charge.
Tools require: In this experiments we used-
Two equal sizes of metals plates.
Two metal sphere
Copper wire.
Complete step-by-step solution:
At first we placed two metal plates A and B at a distance of 60cm. Connected them with two polished metal spheres S1 and S2 and an induction coil placed between a small gap of two spheres.
As we know due to high potential across S1 and S2 the air within the little gap between the spheres gets ionized and provides a path for the discharge of the plates. A spark is created between S1 and S2 & magnetism waves of high frequency area units radiated. Hertz’s was ready to manufacture magnetism waves of frequency . Here the plates A and B act as a electrical devices having little capacitance worth C and also the connecting wires give low inductance L. The oscillation of charges between two plates is-
v=2πLC1
Note: The experiments based on the theory of oscillating electric charge radiates electromagnetic waves. Maxwell’s electromagnetic wave theory was proved by Hertz's experiments in 1888.
