Explain giving reasons
(a) A balanced diet is necessary for maintaining a healthy body.
(b) The health of an organism depends upon the surrounding environmental conditions.
(c) Our surrounding area should be free of stagnant water.
(d) Social harmony and good economic conditions are necessary for good health.
Solution
Leading a healthy lifestyle is very much essential for a person this means the person is free from any kind of illness and injury. For this, a person needs a clean and healthy surrounding environment, good economic conditions, and a healthy diet.
Complete answer:
(a) Food is essential for the proper functioning, growth, and development of our body. For this, a balanced diet is required that will provide all the necessary nutrients or raw materials that are needed by our body for the production of energy in an appropriate amount. The necessary nutrients are proteins, carbohydrates, fats or lipids, minerals, vitamins, salt, water, etc. In the absence of balanced nutrition, our body will be more prone to disease, infection, fatigue, and low performance.
(b) WHO (World Health Organisation) has given the definition of health which states that Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well beings, and not only the absence of disease or infirmity in our body. So, we can say that our health depends on three major factors namely physical, social, and mental factors. If the environmental condition of a particular area is contaminated it will adversely affect the physical health of the organism residing in that particular area. So it has become essential to keep our surrounding healthy and safe for this society has to maintain the following points:
-Proper removal and disposal of garbage should be done.
-There should be proper cover drainage of sewage.
-There should be proper distribution and supply of clean and hygienic drinking water.
-Pest control should be done properly and timely.
-Within the residential zones that should be green parks constructed with trees and also garden areas for residents should be maintained.
(c) Stagnant water means a standing pool of water that is the biggest environmental hazard because it will provide a breeding and reproduction ground for several forms of insects, especially mosquitoes. These mosquitoes act as a vector for several diseases like malaria, filaria, dengue, yellow fever, etc. If our surroundings will remain free from stagnant water, mosquitoes won't be ready to find an area of breeding and ultimately their population will decrease. This will prevent the spread of insect-borne diseases. Moreover, stagnant water becomes polluted and its consumption by human beings or animals also causes health problems.
(d) Social harmony is a condition when an organism lives in association with other organisms, where the participation and sharing of happiness and joy are also involved. Human beings live in societies and different localities such as villages or cities, which will determine our social and physical environment, and we have to keep harmony with both of them. A lot of money is required for better living conditions. For a healthy body, we need an adequate and complete balanced diet and for this, we have to earn more. One has to be in a good economic condition so that one can afford the best medical treatment for any disease if required.
