Question
Biology Question on excretory products and their elimination
Excretory product of spider
A
uric acid
B
mamoma
C
guanine
D
none of these
Answer
guanine
Explanation
Solution
Guanine is a metabolic waste of nucleotide metabolism found in spider and penguin. Spiders take proteinaceous fluids. They cannot excrete excess nitrogen in soluble form (such as animal urine) because they cannot afford the relatively huge water losses required to solubilize urea. So, faecal excretions are often coated or filled with guanine which is a highly water insoluble organic compound, containing 5 nitrogen atoms per molecule.
