Classification can be expressed in terms of scientific ordering of organisms in a hierarchy on the basis of their relationship in morphological, evolutionary and other related terms. Another more scientific term for classification is known as taxonomy. The basic idea is that classification is done on the basis of similarities and differences that a population possess with regards to their structural similarities and evolutionary relationships. For example all cat-like species of animals belong to the family Felidae.
