Question
Physics Question on electrostatic potential and capacitance
Electrons move away from a region of lower potential to a region of higher potential. Since an electron has a negative charge.
If both Assertion and Reason are true, and Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion
If both Assertion and Reason are true, but Reason is not a correct explanation of the Assertion
If Assertion is true, but Reason is false
If both Assertion and Reason are false
If both Assertion and Reason are true, and Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion
Solution
Suppose A and B are two regions having potcntials V1 and V2 such that V1>V2. So the clectric field will be set up from A to B (i.e. from higher potential to lower potential). Now since the electron has got a negative charge, the force experienced by the electron will be in a direction opposite to the direction of the electric field. Hence the electrons move from a region of lower potential to a region of higher potential due to their negative charges.
