Draw a graph for the following.
(i)
Side of square (in cm) | Perimeter (in cm) |
---|---|
2 | 8 |
3 | 12 |
3.5 | 14 |
5 | 20 |
6 | 24 |
Is it a linear graph?
(ii)
Side of square (in cm) | Perimeter (in cm) |
---|---|
2 | 4 |
3 | 9 |
4 | 16 |
5 | 25 |
6 | 36 |
Is it a linear graph?
Solution
According to the question we have to determine the linear graph for both of the given data (i) and (ii) then we have to check that the obtained line graph is linear or not.
Now, we have to draw the line graph for the data (i) in which we have to take the given numeric which is the side of the square at the x-axis and the perimeter to the y-axis.
Now, we have to check that the obtained line in the line graph is linear or not which can be determined as if the line is straight then we can say that the graph is linear.
Now, to determine that the graph is linear or not we have to follow the same step as we did for the (i).
Complete step-by-step solution:
Step 1: First of all we have to draw the line graph for the data (i) in which we have to take the given numeric which is the side of the square at the x-axis and the perimeter to the y-axis as mentioned in the solution hint. Hence,
Step 2: Now, as from the graph obtained just above we can see that the graph line is a straight line hence, the graph is linear.
Step 3: Now, we have to draw the line graph for the data (ii) in which we have to take the given numeric which is the side of the square at the x-axis and the perimeter to the y-axis as mentioned in the solution hint. Hence,
Step 4: Now, as from the graph obtained just above we can see that the graph line is not a straight line hence, the graph is not linear.
Hence, with the help of the graphs obtained we can see that (i) is a linear graph and (ii) is not a linear graph.
Note: To check that the obtained line in the line graph is linear or not which can be determined as if the line is straight then we can say that the graph is linear.
In a line graph we just have to take the side of the square (in cm) in the x-axis and perimeter (in cm) in the x-axis to obtain the linear graph.
