Mathematics Question on Area Of A Parallelogram

DL and BM are the heights on sides AB and AD respectively of parallelogram ABCD (Fig 9.15). If the area of the parallelogram is 14701470 cm2cm^2 , AB = 3535 cmcm and AD = 4949 cmcm, find the length of BM and DL.
parallelogram ABCD

Answer

Area of parallelogram =Base× Height \text{Area of parallelogram }= \text{Base} ×\text{ Height }

= AB×DLAB × DL

1470=35×DL1470 = 35 × DL

DL=147035=42  cmDL=\frac{1470}{35}=42\;cm

Also,  1470=AD×BMAlso, \;1470 = AD × BM

1470=49×BM1470 = 49 × BM

BM=147049=30  cmBM=\frac{1470}{49}=30\;cm
