Question

Question: Differentiate between P-wave and T-wave....

Differentiate between P-wave and T-wave.

Explanation

Solution

Hint:- The human heart has four chambers, namely right auricle and ventricle and left auricle and ventricle. The right auricle when a contract the deoxygenated blood flows into the right ventricle through a valve known as a tricuspid valve, this valve closes after the emptiness of the auricle. The right ventricle contracts and pumps the blood into the pulmonary artery and lungs to get the deoxygenated blood into oxygenated form. The left auricle when contracts the oxygenated blood from the lungs flows into the left ventricle, which is separated by a mitral valve and it closes after the left ventricle becomes full. Then the left ventricle contracts and pumps the oxygenated blood into the whole body.

Complete step-by-step solution:- The differences between P-wave and T-wave are as follows:

P-waveT-wave
The P-wave represents atrial depolarization or atrial systole. The T-wave represents ventricular repolarization of ventricular relaxation.
During the phase of P-wave, the impulse of contraction originates from the SA node. This causes atrial depolarization.During the phase of T-wave, the ventricles relax and return to their normal state.
The time duration between P to Q is 0.1 sec, and this is known as atrial depolarization time. The T-wave represents the initiation of joint diastole of both the auricle and ventricle. The time of joint diastole is 0.4 sec.

Additional information: The T wave on the electrocardiogram represents the repolarization of the ventricles. It is a complex electrical phenomenon that represents a crucial stage in electrical cardiac activity. It is an interval between the start of the QRS complex and the end of the T wave or U wave.

Note:- The SA node is abbreviated as sino atrial node, and it is known as the pacemaker of the heart. It sends electrical impulse and due to which upper heart chambers, atria contract. On the contrary, the AV is abbreviated as atrioventricular node. It sends an impulse to the ventricles and due to which the lower heart chambers or ventricles.
