Define the following terms and differentiate between them.
a) Disease
b) Health
Solution
Health and disease are two different conditions related to the body. One tells us about the overall well-being of the individual and one tells us about any abnormality in the individual.
Complete solution:
Health tells us about the state of mental, physical, and psychological well being of an individual. On the other hand, disease tells us about the condition of abnormal dysfunctioning of the mental-physical states which leads to the illness. One more term commonly used is disease-free. A person is usually said to be disease-free when he is devoid of diseases.
Health and disease are known to be critical concepts in bioethics with far-reaching social and political implications. For example, any plan to educate physicians or regulate health insurance must employ some standards which will be used to assess whether people are ill or not.
Diseases are mainly classified into two types i.e communicable and non-communicable.
-Communicable diseases are known as illnesses that result from infections by microorganisms called pathogens and are contagious among individuals. Bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi all-cause disease which can be spread between organisms.
malaria - a protozoan infection spread by bites from infected mosquitos
-Non-communicable diseases are illnesses that aren't transferred between people or other organisms. These are often the results of unhealthy lifestyles or a predisposition to a disorder caused by inherited factors.
Some lifestyle factors which will have major effects on physical and psychological state include:
-diet
-alcohol and other drugs
-stress

Note:
Health science is known as the branch of science focused on health. There are mainly 2 approaches made for health science. The first is the study and research of the body and health-related issues to know how humans (and animals) function and the second is the application of that knowledge to enhance health and to stop and cure diseases and other physical and mental impairments.
