Question
Question: Carbon incorporated into life forms through……..?...
Carbon incorporated into life forms through……..?
Solution
Hint : Carbon is a chief element in the periodic table. Biosphere consists of various compounds of carbon to study varieties of these compounds. A new branch of chemistry was developed called “Organic Chemistry”. Carbon is first produced then consumed and finally decomposed back into the atmosphere the process is known as carbon cycle.
Complete Step By Step Answer:
Carbon incorporates in life form through the process of photosynthesis. By the process of photosynthesis, plants trap the energy from sunlight through a pigment called chlorophyll and convert it into glucose, sugar and oxygen by using carbon dioxide and water. After this carbon is present in plants, these are consumed by animals and thus carbon reaches in the state of consumption.
CO2+H2O+energy→C6H12O6+O2
After the carbon is in consumer state in the trophic level the next stage comes is decomposition. When the life forms (plants, animals) die their body decomposes and carbon gets back into the atmosphere and then again comes to decomposition through the same process.
Some part of dead remains gets deep in the soil and after years they turn into fossil fuels which again on combustion process carbon dioxide and carbon returns back into the atmosphere.
Note :
Carbon cycle is a very important cycle in the biosphere, as the carbon dioxide is used by plants to give oxygen to other living organisms and maintain the existence of life on earth. Living organism gives the carbon back by respiration.
