Can you please explain any concept of physics with layman explanation sir. You can choose any topic which you feel very confident about. Like with the water analogy we can explain current electricity very easily…. This is called layman explanation with real life analogy.

Explanation

Solution

Hint : We will try to understand the concept of electric flux with the help of an example of catching fish in a pond. Here, each stream or line of fishes represents an electric field line. We can observe that we can capture a maximum number of fishes when the ring is perpendicular to the flow of the fishes. If we slant the ring, then the number of fishes passing through it decreases. With this, we can understand that the electric flux tells us about the number of field lines passing through the cross section.

Complete Step By Step Answer:
We know that electric flux is a scalar quantity and is defined as the dot product of the electric field vector passing through some cross section area and the area vector of the cross sectional area. In other words, electric flux is the product of the electric field and the cross section area that is perpendicular to the field and vice versa.
We also say that electric flux tells about the number of field lines that are passing through the cross section. Let us understand this with the flowing example.
Suppose we are catching fishes in a pond. The fishes are flowing in beam formation, in a single direction. Also the rate of fishes flowing through a cross section is constant. We have a net with a circular ring and assume that it can capture an infinite number of fishes at a time.
Now, we place the ring in water, in the between the path of the fishes. Let us assume that this does not disturb the flow of the fishes.

Note :
The same example is applicable in understanding magnetic flux.
Magnetic flux is defined as the dot product of the magnetic field vector and the area vector of the cross section through which it is passing. In this case, we have to treat the flow of fishes as magnetic field lines.
