- The air pollution is referred to as if air is polluted by undesirable chemicals that have a negative impact on the living and the non-living. Air pollutants are called the chemicals that contaminate the air. These substances can also come from natural causes such as smoke and dust caused by forest fires or volcanic rashes.
- Human actions also introduce toxins to the environment. Factories, power stations, industrial wastes, firewood and dung cakes are sources of air pollution.
- Vehicles contain high levels of toxins such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon dioxide, and smoke. Incomplete combustion of fuel as petrol and diesel is the result of carbon monoxide. This is a radioactive gas. It decreases the ability of the blood to transport oxygen.
- By the end of 2002, the public transport of Delhi switched over to a new fuel called CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). Delhi is in a ranking of 41 cities the world's fourth most contaminated city. The combustion of fossil fuels, such as petrol and diesel, has contributed to Delhi's air pollution.
- Therefore, it moved to a new fuel-CNG in 2002. It is considered better because CNG is a renewable fuel that creates relatively little unburned particles and is thus viewed as environment friendly. Unlike petrol or diesel, in vehicles, CNG burns more efficiently and very little unburnt remains.
