BCG vaccination is to be given to a new-born child
A. Immediately after childbirth
B. Within 48 hours
C. Within seven days
D. Within six month
Solution
Hint:- Bacillus Calmette Guerin stands for BCG which is a vaccine given for tuberculosis. A dose of this vaccine is recommended to each and every new-born to fight against the deadly disease of TB. It is vaccinated to the new-born in our country and is mandatory for all to get this vaccine done within six month of a childbirth.
Complete step-by-step solution:-
BCG is prepared from the virulence educed live bovine tuberculosis bacillus, Mycobacterium bovis that has no ability to cause tuberculosis in humans. Some BCG vaccines are freeze dried and become fine powder which is then sealed with vacuum in a glass ampoule. Except neonates a tuberculosis injection can also be given to adults to detect the presence of this disease causing bacteria. There is an antigenic substance which is produced from the causative agent of disease which in turn helps in providing immunity against this deadly disease. It has to be given within six month of the childbirth. Thus, the correct option is (D). TB is caused when the infection is spread by sneezing and coughing of the infected person. Most humans do not possess any symptom of this disease but they still have that, symptoms of this disease are sneezing, coughing with sometimes blood tinged. It can spread to other parts of the body like the brain and spine. Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (MTB) is the main causative agent which primarily and mostly affects the lungs but can spread to other parts of the body too. It can spread from one person to another through air.
Note:- Tuberculosis mainly involves lungs infection. Symptoms may include prolonged coughing with chest pain, sneezing and sometimes it may be asymptomatic , it can become chronic illness and cause severe health damage upto death of a person.
