Bandipur in Karnataka state is the site of
A. The tiger project
B. The deer project
C. The peacock project
D. The elephant project

Explanation

Solution

Hint:- Bandipur is a national park situated in Karnataka. A National park refers to a region set aside for the protection of the natural environment by the national government. National parks preserve the ecosystems and provide animals with a protected place to breed and live. Without national parks, many species of animals will be at increased risk of extinction.

Complete Answer:-
Bandipur National Park is a national park situated in the Indian state of Karnataka, which is the state with the second largest tiger population in India and was established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger. It is one of the country's premier tiger reserves, along with the neighbouring Nagarhole National Park. It was originally a private hunting reserve for the Maharaja of the Mysore Kingdom, and now it has been renamed as the Tiger Reserve of Bandipur.
The park covers an area of 874 square kilometres which preserves many species of endangered wildlife in India. It is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, along with the neighbouring Nagarhole National Park, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Mudumalai National Park. There is a ban on traffic from 9 pm to 6 am from morning to evening to help reduce the death rate of animals.
So, the correct answer is option (A).

Note:- Project Tiger is a tiger conservation programme initiated during the tenure of prime minister Indira Gandhi by the Government of India in April 1973. The first director of Project Tiger was Kailash Sankhala. The project aims to ensure a sustainable population of Bengal tigers in their natural habitats, to protect them from extinction and to conserve areas of biological significance as a natural heritage that have always reflected the diversity of ecosystems in the distribution of tigers as closely as possible.
