Question
Biology Question on respiration in plants
ATP is synthesized in
A
F0 particles
B
ion channels
C
F1 particles
D
plasmalemma
Answer
F1 particles
Explanation
Solution
ATP molecules are synthesized with the help of energy liberated during oxidation of reduced coenzymes (NADH,FADH2) produced in respiration. This is called oxidative phosphorylation and it takes place in mitochondria. The enzyme ATP synthase is required for this synthesis. ATP synthase is located in F1 or head piece of F0−F1 or elementary particles. The particles are present in the inner mitochondrial membrane.
