Question
Biology Question on the molecular basis of inheritance
Anticodon is present on
A
rRNA
B
t RNA
C
mtDNA
D
mRNA
Answer
t RNA
Explanation
Solution
The basic structure (clover leaf, 2D) of tRNA contains 3 loops and one lump. The C3 ' arm is called acceptor arm. It has C−C−A at its one end that accepts amino acid and form aminoacyl tRNA. TΨC loop (or ribosomal binding site) binds with the ribosome. Anticodon loop has three specific base sequences making the code. This code pairs with the codon present on the mRNA. DHU loop binds amino acid synthetase. This is made up of 8−12 bases. A lump is present between TΨC loop and anticodon loop.
