Chemistry Question on Some basic concepts of chemistry

An organic compound on combustion gives 0.22 g of CO2 and 0.126 g of H2O. If the percentage of C in given organic compound is 40%, the percentage of H will be?

Answer

The correct answer is 9.34%.

C%=1244×0.22weightofsample×100\frac{12}{44}\times \frac{0.22}{weight \,of\,sample}\times100

40=1244×0.22weightofsample×10040=\frac{12}{44}\times \frac{0.22}{weight\,of\, sample}\times100

\therefore Weight of sample = 640=0.15g\frac{6}{40}=0.15g

\therefore H%=218×0.1260.15×100\frac{2}{18}\times\frac{0.126}{0.15}\times 100

= 9.34%
