Science Question on Measuring the Rate of Motion

An athlete completes one round of a circular track of diameter 200  m200 \;m in 40  s40 \;s. What will be the distance covered and the displacement at the end of 22 minutes 2020 ss?

Answer

Diameter of circular track (D) = 200200 mm
Radius of circular track (r) = 2002\frac{200 }{ 2} = 100100 mm
Time taken by the athlete for one round (t) = 4040 ss
Distance covered by athlete in one round (s) = 2πr2\pi r
= 2×(227)×1002 \times \bigg( \frac{22}{ 7} \bigg) \times 100
Speed of the athlete (v) = DistanceTime\frac{Distance }{ Time}

= (2×2200)(7×40)\frac{(2 \times 2200) }{ (7 \times 40)}

= 44007×40\frac{4400 }{ 7} \times 40
Therefore, Distance covered in 140140 ss = Speed (s) × Time(t)
= 4400(7×40)×(2×60+20)\frac{4400 }{ (7 \times 40) }\times (2 \times 60 + 20)

= 4400(7×40)×140\frac{4400 }{ ( 7 \times 40)} \times 140

= 4400×1407×404400 \times \frac{140 }{7} \times 40
= 22002200 mm
Number of round in 4040 ss = 11 round
Number of round in 140140 ss =14040\frac{140}{40}
=3123 \frac{1 }{2}
A circular track with 200 m  diameter
Hence, Displacement of the athlete with respect to initial position at x= xy
= Diameter of circular track
= 200200 m
